EENA Is Hiring an Advocacy & Policy Officer in Brussels

EENA, the European Emergency Number Association, is recruiting an Advocacy & Policy Officer to join its team in Brussels. The successful candidate will contribute to EENA’s mission of improving public safety across Europe and will play an important role in shaping policies related to emergency communications.

The position offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of EU policymaking, public safety, emergency services and telecommunications, while collaborating with European institutions, national authorities and other stakeholders.

What will the Advocacy & Policy Officer do?

The selected candidate will support the development and implementation of EENA’s advocacy strategy on EU legislation affecting emergency communications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to EENA’s advocacy strategy on relevant EU legislation.
  • Supporting the implementation of the organisation’s advocacy strategy, including work related to the Digital Networks Act.
  • Monitoring and evaluating EU policy developments and trends relevant to EENA’s mission.
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including EU institutions, national authorities and partner organisations.
  • Participating in policy events, workshops and conferences.
  • Preparing policy recommendations, position papers and reports.
  • Conducting research and analysis on public safety policies, emergency services and relevant EU legislation.
  • Preparing briefings, presentations and communication materials to present research findings and policy positions.
  • Contributing to EU projects.
  • Working closely with EENA’s communications team to ensure that policy messages are aligned with the organisation’s overall strategy.

What skills is EENA looking for?

EENA is looking for an energetic, proactive and dedicated professional with strong communication and analytical abilities.

Candidates should have:

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Knowledge of additional EU languages, which would be considered an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand and synthesise complex information.
  • A solid understanding of the EU policymaking process.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications would be an advantage.
  • The ability to work independently as well as as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A strong work ethic, reliability and commitment to improving public safety.
  • A willingness to learn, develop and contribute to the organisation.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a degree in political science, public policy, law or a related field.

Relevant professional experience in EU affairs, public policy or advocacy is desirable. However, EENA also welcomes applications from highly motivated candidates who are at an early stage of their careers and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and develop.

Permanent position in Brussels

The position is a permanent, full-time role based in Brussels, Belgium.

As an Advocacy & Policy Officer, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute directly to policies that can have a tangible impact on emergency communications and public safety across Europe.
