WHO Internship in Business Operations in Berlin – Up to €1,488 Monthly Living Allowance
The World Health Organization (WHO) is offering a 24-week Internship in Business Operations at the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin, Germany. The internship provides students and recent graduates with practical experience in operations, information management, digital workplace technologies and IT/AV service coordination.

About the WHO Berlin Hub
The WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin is part of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme. The Hub works with partners to generate public-health information and actionable insights for responding to health emergencies and improving decision-making.
The Operations and Programme Management team supports administrative services, meetings and events, facilities, procurement coordination, information management and relationships with internal and external service providers.
What will the intern do?
The successful intern will support a range of operational and digital activities, including:
- Supporting hybrid, virtual and in-person meetings and events.
- Maintaining SharePoint sites, digital repositories and operational records.
- Supporting IT and audiovisual processes, including meeting-room technologies and conferencing systems.
- Assisting with the management and tracking of laptops, mobile phones and other ICT equipment.
- Supporting the adoption of AI-enabled and digital workplace platforms.
- Contributing to process improvement, automation and knowledge-management initiatives.
- Preparing reports, presentations and operational summaries.
The internship is designed as a learning opportunity, allowing participants to strengthen their digital workplace, information-management, analytical, communication and organizational skills.
Who can apply?
Applicants must have completed the equivalent of at least three years of full-time university studies in fields such as:
- Information Management
- Data and Information Systems
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Related disciplines
Applicants must normally also be enrolled in a university programme leading to a formal qualification. Those who have already graduated may also qualify if they apply within 18 months of completing their qualification.
Candidates should be comfortable with commonly used programmes such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint is relevant, as is familiarity with IT/AV technologies, digital collaboration tools and information management.
Language requirements
English: Expert knowledge required.
German: Intermediate knowledge is desirable, but not listed as essential.
Financial support
This is an unpaid internship, but WHO provides a living allowance.
For the Berlin duty station:
- Up to €684 per month for interns whose permanent residence is in Berlin.
- Up to €1,488 per month for interns whose permanent residence is outside Berlin.
- All interns in Berlin also receive a daily lunch voucher.
- WHO provides accident and medical insurance coverage.
The exact allowance is calculated individually after selection and depends on factors including the intern's other external financial support and permanent residence.
